Here at The Aluminum Air Force & Soda Can Models, we feel that the ultimate measure of success is best determined by competing against modelers of other mediums including paper, plastic, resin and even aluminum. Based on this belief we have refrained from crafting competitions and instead believe that annual IPMS or International Plastic Modelers’ Society competitions are the best way to gauge our success. We began entering these competitions in 2008 and have competed in every year minus one (2011) up to 2013. Here is the list of our awards:
Mildred Terbush Memorial award Best of Show 2013
The life-size R2D2 project won the popular vote and was awarded the Mildred Terbush Memorial award for Best of Show at the 2013 IPMS Dragon Lady in Yuba City California. The team at Soda Can Models was stunned and thrilled to win their fifth IPMS award since starting active competition in 2008.
2008 IPMS Dragon Lady Miscellaneous other than plastic category 1st Place for the Ilyushin il-86 Airliner.
2008 IPMS Dragon Lady Miscellaneous other than plastic category 2nd Place for the F-15 Eagle with detailed cockpit.
2008 IPMS Dragon Lady Miscellaneous other than plastic category 3rd Place for the 48 inch long Antonov AN-225.
2012 IPMS Dragon Lady Miscellaneous other than plastic category 3rd Place for the 44 inch long F-15 Eagle Aggressor
